Sama organised a regional workshop on The Way Ahead: Strengthening the Response of the Health Care System to Gender Based Violence on 27-30 November 2013 in Delhi. The workshop was envisaged to consolidate and take forward deliberations with organizations and networks that had been part of previous state level capacity building initiatives by Sama. The workshop sought to- Enable an understanding and analysis of the health system in which response to gender based violence (sexual violence as well as ‘domestic’ violence) is located; Build capacities in engaging with the health system to initiate and strengthen response; Strengthen understanding and analysis of the law, policy, recent amendments, standard protocols and proformas; and Learn from existing strategies amongst participants to initiate responses at different levels of the health system.
The workshop was attended by representatives of community based organisations in Delhi and Rajasthan.
