Sama played an active part in drafting the guidelines, drawing up the action plan for series of public hearings on Health Rights across India during 2015-16. These hearings were collaboratively organised by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and Jan Swasthya Abhiyan (JSA) and were focused on reviewing human rights violations in context of the public and private health care services in India.
Sama played a key role in the preparatory meetings to draw up an action plan for evidence gathering with Delhi level organisations for the Northern Region NHRC- JSA public hearing. Representatives from Sama also participated in the NHRC-JSA public hearing for the western region on January 6-7, 2016 held at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in Mumbai where different cases of health rights denial and medical negligence were presented and heard by the NHRC benches.
