Our efforts to address gender-based violence (GBV) consistently prioritise centring survivors in our responses and recognising GBV as a public health issue.
Over time, frontline workers, community members, friends, and leaders who have participated in Sama’s workshops and short courses on GBV have developed important reflections and commitments. These insights have emerged through their sustained engagement with the issue from a feminist and gender justice perspective.
As support persons for survivors, they not only provide essential assistance but also carry these perspectives into their immediate networks and systems—including the health sector—helping to advance the recognition of GBV as a public health issue in their roles as leaders.
