An eight-member advisory committee with expertise in areas of public health, pharmacology, policy analysis, clinical trials, bioethics and law was appointed to guide the research and provide alternative strategies on the ethical concerns of the research. Three members of the committee were international experts and five were Indian experts in the aforementioned fields.
The first Advisory Committee meeting was held on 14- 15 February, 2015 in Delhi. Six advisory members attended the meeting. The advisory committee members raised important questions, and gave insightful comments and valuable suggestions, which qualitatively improved the overall understanding of the proposed studies.
The second Advisory Committee meeting was held on the 25- 26 September, 2015 in Delhi. The initial findings from the research were presented during the meeting. Suggestions and critical inputs related to methods and findings were discussed in the meeting.
