Sama organised a Roundtable on Health System Response to Domestic Violence on March 30, 2016 at India Islamic Cultural Centre in New Delhi. This Roundtable was planned to bring together a small group of individuals, organisations from different states to deliberate on the role of the health system, look at the challenges and non-responsiveness of the system to DV to take forward the discussion on what its role could be.
The Roundtable initiated a discussion about a possible framework and guidelines for health care facilities and health care providers at varied levels, towards care for survivors of domestic violence. Different strategies and opportunities were discussed while looking at the varied engagement and experience of organisations working on the issue of domestic violence and gender based violence including Sama’s own work.
