Sama was invited to participate in the National Consultation on Declining Child Sex Ratio – Civil Society Campaign organized in June 2013 by the National Foundation for India (NFI) in partnership with UNFPA. The consultation was aimed at building a coalition among civil society organizations and networks to broaden the base of ownership and dialogue around the issue of gender biased sex selection.
The primary objective of organizing the consultation was to launch a national level civil society led campaign against gender biased sex selection and discuss the draft campaign design, obtain feedback from a cross-section of stakeholders and deliberate on the next steps forward for initiating the campaign against gender biased sex selection.
