Survivor Centered Approach and Care to address Gender Based Violence is an information guide in Hindi designed for all those who find themselves in a position of support for the survivors of Gender Based Violence (GBV). The need for such an information guide emerged after sustained conversations with various participants of the workshops, short courses, etc., conducted by Sama with local and regional collectives and individuals working on the intersecting issues of Gender Based Violence, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Safe Abortion, Health Rights, etc.
Gender Based Violence is a systemic issue which violates multiple rights of a survivor and has significant implications on their overall health, including their sexual and reproductive health. Offering support to survivors of violence by people in the first line of care requires a survivor centered lens. A survivor centered lens keeps the immediate needs, requirements and wishes of the survivor in the forefront.
This information guide aims to encapsulate the core principles of a survivor-centered approach, accompanied by actionable steps that can be used by frontline support persons across various contexts. It is designed as a convenient booklet for reference, offering guidance to ensure a survivor-centered response to those affected by GBV.
