Ascribing communal overtone to the public health crisis brought about by COVID-19 defeats us as a collective in our positive efforts, and it must be resisted and challenged. It not only spreads misinformation and mistrust between communities, affects our psycho-social well-being by instigating fear, diverts us from seeking accurate information and updating our knowledge, it also hinders the cultivation of social solidarity that is so much necessary to support each other in these times of unprecedented crisis, so that we can rise above as a society, as a nation and as caring human beings.
As we enter the lockdown 3.0, our persisting remote locations and isolation conditions have only reminded us of the need to stay connected with each other across the social boundaries of identities-class, caste, religion amongst many others.
Communalising of a pandemic, of a public health issue should have no place in our public response. It must be opposed, challenged and rejected.

कोविड -19 के सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य संकट पर सांप्रदायिकता का रंग देना- हमें सामूहिक रूप से इस संकट के समय में कमज़ोर बनाता है, हमारे सकारात्मक प्रयासों को असफल करता है और इसे चुनौती दी जानी चाहिए और इसका विरोध करना चाहिए।यह न केवल समुदायों के बीच ग़लत सूचना, अविश्वास को बढ़ाता है, भय को उकसाकर हमारे मानसिक-सामाजिक कल्याण को प्रभावित करता है, हमें सटीक जानकारी प्राप्त करने और हमारे ज्ञान को बढ़ाने से रोकता है. साथ ही साथ इस तरह के अभूतपूर्व संकट के समय में एक राष्ट्र के रूप में, एक मानवीय समाज के रूप में एक दूसरे के ध्यान रखने , तथा सामाजिक एकजुटता के निर्माण में भी बाधा डालता है।
लॉकडाउन के तीसरे चरण में प्रवेश करने के साथ अब-हमारे एकांत स्थानों में बने रहने, अलगाव की स्थितियों ने हमें सभी वर्ग, जाति, धर्म की सामाजिक सीमाओं के परे एक दूसरे के साथ जुड़े रहने की आवश्यकता को याद दिलाया है।
एक सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य के मुद्दे एवं महामारी का सांप्रदायिकरण, इसका हमारी सार्वजनिक प्रतिक्रिया में कोई स्थान नहीं होना चाहिए। इसका विरोध, चुनौती और अस्वीकार किया जाना चाहिए।
