Short Course on Addressing GBV as a Public Health Concern

Gender-based violence (GBV) and health are closely interconnected issues that significantly affect women, girls, and non-binary persons. For those from marginalized backgrounds, factors such as caste, class, sexuality, (dis)ability, and religion, make this connection even more complex. For over two decades, Sama has dedicated itself to raising awareness of these intersections and enhancing the capacity of healthcare providers to improve their responses to GBV.

The prevalence of GBV in both private and public spheres significantly affects the health and well-being of survivors. It is thus crucial to enhance current perspectives and capacities, preparedness, and responses of health providers and health workers who are functioning within the health system to address these challenges effectively.
