A seminar Gender and Technologies: Examining Intersections, Expanding Discourse was organised by Sama on 11 and 12 April 2013 in Chandigarh, Punjab. The seminar facilitated exchange of information, experiences and concerns emanating from activism and research on practice and policy on sex selection.
The discussions pointed to the need to examine sex selection in a larger political economic context that includes honor killings, property rights, and state policies like the two-child norm. Furthermore, the seminar sought to examine the scenario vis-à-vis legislation with regard to ARTs and sex selection.
