Sama conducted a review to examine possible factors that may have facilitated the slight improvement in the 2011 census sex ratio figures for Punjab. Towards this, interviews were conducted with key informants – academics, activists, lawyers with a long engagement on the issue in Punjab and analysis of data from available literature, media sources was carried out. A paper based on this process was developed. The paper was presented in the workshop on Gender andTechnologies: Examining Intersections, Expanding Discourse held in Chandigarh on 11th and 12th April 2013, which enabled deliberations and reflection around sex selection in the State and continued areas of concerns and challenges.
