New treatment may up pregnancy rate

Melbourne: Researchers in Australia have developed a new technique which they claim could double pregnancy rates for couples undertaking certain types of fertility treatments.

In fact, the research team at the University of Adelaide has devised a new formula to significantly improve embryo implantation rates and reduce pregnancy complications in assisted reproductive technology (ART). Existing ART procedures triple the risk of pregnancy complications such as miscarriage, preeclampsia, intrauterine growth restriction and pre-term births, some of which are life-threatening to the mother or her baby. But, the researchers hope to correct these problems with the new treatment.
