Sama recognizes the critical role of advocacy in building collective understanding on various issues and to strengthen and sustain campaigns around them. Advocacy initiatives of Sama, including those as part of other coalitions, have involved activists, organizations, networks from nearly all the states in India and from more than 15 countries across the world.
Sama is a member of national and international movements and coalitions such as the global People’s Health Movement (PHM), Jan Swasthya Abhiyan (JSA) – the Indian chapter of the PHM, National Network of Autonomous Women’s Groups (NNAWG), the bioethics movement through the National Bioethics Conferences, the International Women and Health Movement through the International Women and Health Meetings (IWHMs).
Sama endorses initiatives and attempts which are pro-people, pro-women, and pro-poor, and have a wide outreach. Sama believes in critically engaging with policy to bring a gender and public health lens to bear on the concerns and rights of women and their communities.
